Supply Chain Management 중 중요한 요소 인 demand and supply planning에 대한 정의를 정리해보았다.

실제, 글로벌 기업들이 이 정의와 기준으로 practice 하고 있으며, SI&OP improvement를 위해 끊임없이 process 개선을 진행하고 있다. SI&OP 없이 돌아가는 회사가 있으나, SI&OP 없이는 효율적으로 기업을 운영 할 수 없고, 그 기업의 operating income 및 P&L review 역량은 약화될 것이다. SI&OP의 전체적인 View를 제공하는 것이 Demand Planner 이다. 

 

Supply chain planning starts and end with our customers. Customers dictate where product is needed, and we work to ensure our customers are supplied as economincally as possible.

 

Planning roles are aligned to the three general categoeis

1. Demand planning to partner with regional sales, marketing and customer service teams to understand current demand and estimate or forecast future demand plans.

2. Demand and GSC planning to manage demands, supply, and inventory distribution to ensure the business is balanced "end to end"; fulfilling demand without excess production or inventory.

3. Supply Planning to partner with manufacturing to plan current and future equipment, labor and materials, and schedule production tto build the products that will be delivered to our customers and patients.

 

Planner's core global process is SI&OP. SI&OP is the process to forecast sales demand then create inventroy and operations and plans to deliver product to our customers for a 2 year horizon. 

The process:

1. ensure alignment between fuctions to know what the global plan is, what is needed, and what is limiting us to achieve our desired sales and

 

2. provides everyone the volume plan which financial and other operating plans are based upon.

 

Here is how the process supports the three key functions:

1. Sales: Actual customer orders, forecasted regional customer demand and related data for the products we sell.

2. Inventory: the inventory we will carry throughout our supply and distribution center network to buffer against delivery lead-times and planned or unknown distruptions, to ensure customer service targets are met

3. Operations: The supply plan of product we will manaufacture to fultill our customers orders, demand forecast, and target inventories. This drives, and is influenced by, our equipment and people that are needed to produce our products.
